Performed as a solo piece for Lone Star Explosion: Houston International Performance Art Biennale
The Eyes of Utopia: Interfacing Intimacy is a live adaptation of the screenplay with the same name, which I posthumously collaborated on with my late uncle. This performance is the introduction to the screenplay, which allows the smartphone, a pervasive form of documentation in live work, to become the actual audience for the work independent of their owners.
Smart phones were collected with individual tags and an ink marking that could then be used as a ticket after the performance to retrieve one's smart phone. A live performance was recorded in a private room during the duration of the performance festival that evening. The performance is the first part of a series, which adapts an experimental screenplay in sections that are meant to be viewed on smartphones as their primary medium.
